Beach Home

This is a personal project currently underway in Oxnard, CA. It is a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom home that was stripped down to the studs and is being rebuilt. The original house had leaks, was outdated and in desperate need of a facelift. In addition, there were two staircases and two front doors. The exterior staircase was meant to serve as the main stair because the interior staircase was not to code and therefor too steep and narrow to safely use. The exterior staircase took up all the space on the side yard making the path to the first level entrance and backyard incredibly tight.
Our vision was to turn this beach house into a comfortable, functional, and most importantly, colorful home. The rooms and bathrooms were rearranged to remove unnecessary hall space and expand the living and kitchen areas, making it more open and light. Windows that were previously closed up were opened to bring in more natural light and promote airflow in the spaces.
