This space is designed for the Miami tribe of Oklahoma. The building is two stories and includes 7 educational spaces, which are flexible and can be rearranged to hold different types of classes, a cafe/ retail space, and an outdoor space.
This design represents the tribe through many forms of symbolism. Water will be used as the main form of symbolism. It will be seen through various representations throughout the space, including free forms of circulation and material selection. Natural forms will also be used to bring the tribes values of nature into the design, seen in furniture finishes like live edge tables. Movability will be highlighted in this design by allowing class spaces to be multi-functional so that clients can use each space in many different ways. Tables will be on wheels so that they are easy to move. Movable walls will allow users to not only connect within the space but also connect with one another.
